1. The Energy Union in context
Anyone who wishes to change the world needs energy. Each action we undertake requires energy: to grow our food, heat our home, power our phones and move ourselves. Energy is omnipresent that we often paradoxically tend to forget its importance in our daily life. The November 2016 European Commission Communication is willing to highlight energy’s central role in human activities as it puts it at the centre of the key drivers of what it calls the ‘modernisation of the economy’.
